She will always be my baby girl, my hero, Happy 6th birthday, Emmy, we love you more than words can express.

Emmy's 5th birthday

Emmy had her 5th birthday celebration on Sunday, Feb 20 (which is her birthday). We chose to do a family celebration rather than a party with friends as her daycare friends are all considerably younger than her, including  her  beloved Landon aka her boyfriend who is 3.

She had no lack of presents by any means. My parents sent her a portable DVD player and a DVD  of Alvin and the Chipmunks. It is a week later as I write this and it is still her favorite gift. She also received a  keyboard,  a U-draw game tablet for the Wii, 2 Leap Pad Explorer  games and a HUGE stuffed bear from Uncle Sheldon and Aunt Lorna. I have purposely left out her new doll "Allyson" aka Chucky, who we are hoping Em only has a short fascination with. We can't even blame All-chucky's arrival on anyone else as Keith bought it for her and was a leftover Christmas gift. It  never shuts up. Ever. Just when you think it has gone to sleep, it starts again.

We had a good day - We had lunch at Grandma's and  had cake and family time. We took Emmy to see Gnomeo and Juliet, which was in 3-D. As it was dark when we got into the theatre, I randomly handed out the glasses to Keith and Em. Unbeknown st to me, I had the kids size and Em had the adult pair. For the entire movie I had these REALLY small and tight glasses on and didn't even clue in.  Good thing it was a good  movie!

My latest sappy video

Emmy's 5th birthday is on Sunday, so I made this video to show how she has grown. She is still crying and "never wants to see it again"...:(

Happy Birthday, Miss Emerson Faith

Technically, belated at this time. We've been too busy eating cake and opening presents to make a blog post. It's a tough life, I know.

On Saturday, February 20, 2010.. our baby girl turned 4 years old. It's hard to believe 4 years have passed since that amazingly wonderful day I became a Mom. It's gone by in what seems to be an instant, and as much as I want to keep her my baby, I am excited for what lays ahead for her.

We have been through so much in these past 4 years. From Pavlik Harnesses to Febrile seizures, we've covered quite a bit of ground. Thankfully, Emmy has weathered the setbacks like a pro - better than me a lot of the time! She's done a great job at teaching us to be parents.

This has ended up being the birthday that just keeps on giving. Emmy had a party at daycare on Friday, with all her friends. We brought a cake, some blow horns and some party hats. Denise is sending me photos of the actual party, but here is the cake

On Saturday, Emmy and I hung out, went shopping for a bit and grabbed some lunch out. When Keith came home after work, he brought Emmy her "big present"...her very own "Big Girl bike with training wheels. And the fact it is a Disney Princess bike just added to the excitement Emmy had for this bike...

On Sunday, we went to Grandma's for a small party with Grandma, Auntie Lorna, Cousin Jenna, Auntie Joan and of course Emmy. She had a great time, received 2 new puzzles, some and some new clothes.

Emmy with Auntie Lorna and the puzzles she put together (Em loves puzzles!)

Emmy with Grandma, giving Grandma a picture she made for her and snuggling with Grandma

Finally, for those counting, the second cake of the weekend

So overall, Emmy has had presents every day since Friday as she received a card and gift card from Uncle Whitey, Aunt Julie, and cousins Melissa, Micah and Malcolm today. She previously received one from my Aunt Trudy which she opened on Saturday. I would say she had a good birthday overall, with lots of family showing their love...and isn't that what matters? In the end, it's all about family.

Happy Birthday to me...

Yesterday, October 23, marked my 36th birthday. It was a nice day at work, no bad phone calls,(always a plus) lots of"Happy Birthday's" from my coworkers and my Facebook wall was covered. Made a girl feel special. After picking up Emmy and waiting for Keith to get home, we went for dinner at Boston Pizza where Em was very well behaved. We had a lovely dinner, and then spent 30 minutes in the washroom as Emmy was fascinated with the automatic foamy hand soap dispenser. Poor Keith was probably thinking we had deserted him as his daughter was ensuring her hands were the cleanest in the world :).

We came home and Keith took Emmy into the kitchen where obviously he was trying to get her to do something as she was talking in her faux whisper..aka a loud whisper you can hear across the room but is super-cute as she is actually trying to be quiet.

Here is what she brought me:

I had to scan it because it is completely captures a 3 year old's artwork...or perhaps just my 3 year old's typical artwork, but I think it's just perfect. It's a moment in time.

After that, Keith surprised me with a Dairy Queen ice cream cake, which Emmy was EXTREMELY excited about. I am guessing we will be eating cake for a while as there is only the three of us. LOL

So, overall I am a year older, grateful for the time to spend with my loved ones, friends and maybe to have made the difference to a client or two.

Birthday party for Chris and Tony

Emmy (posing so nicely when Mom asked her to smile pretty) with 4 year old Christopher

Check out the height difference between Tony & Em...Tony will be 3 in April and, of course Em has been 3 for over a month.

On March 21, 2009 My friend Poppy had a joint birthday party for her two boys Christopher who is turning 4 and Anthony (Tony) who is turning 3. She picked Emmy up from daycare and I met them at her house after work. After having cake and presents at Poppy's, we went to Bubba Baloos for some playtime. It was a fun night all-in-all. Emmy chose some beads as her present with the tickets we won in the arcade, which some kid promptly stole from her. The worker gave her 3 replacement neckkaces, which made Em look like she was auditioning for "Girls Gone Wild", but cured the tears.

Fun with the blowy things LOL Yes, that's a technical term.

Emmy's Third Birthday Party

On February 22, 2009, Emmy had her first 'official' birthday party (meaning with friends) at Bubba Baloos (a childrens play center) in town. All her daycare friends were invited, and most came. Tatiana, Kadence (Emmy's closest friends at daycare), Caitlin, Landon (Kadence's little brother)all came to join in the fun. My best friend Poppy brought her two boys Christopher and Tony, and her older boys Vinnie and Eric as well (they played laser tag) Everyone had a great time.

My baby girl is three!!! Where has time gone????

Pictures from the party are below:

Three years ago today...

I went to work at PG Taxi where I was an administrative assistant/data entry clerk/payroll guru/girl who did everything and 2 1/2 hours later I left to go to the hospital to check in for my C-section. I could have stayed at work as my c-section didn't happen until 7 that evening...but that's all 20/20 hindsight.

Three years ago today, my little girl was born and our lives changed in that instant, for the better.

Happy birthday my precious Emerson Faith...Mommy and Daddy love you more than words can express.

I will post pics tonight and from her party on Sunday...

Excuses, excuses

I have been bad these past few weeks about posting. I have some good excuses, though.
  • Two weeks ago, my car died, so we have been a 'happy' carpooling family in Keith's truck (which is a pig on gas)
  • After Em was sick, I got it and her 4 hour illness took me 2 weeks to recover from.
  • It was my 35th birthday yesterday. Oh that still looks wrong. I am officially closer to 40 than 30. Oh. and Keith bought me a bathroom scale. 'Cause I didn't know how fat I was. Good choice, buddy, good choice.

Paaaarrrrty!

Today, Emmy and I attended our very first birthday party for Emmy's friend from daycare. I met her friend's mom and Emmy and I had a fun time. It was a 'Dora, Diego and Dinosaur' Adventure party, and although Emmy was a bit young to truly grasp the concept of the adventure part of it (we went through various 'lands' set up in the back yard) she still had fun. Each child had a handmade backpack just like Dora's, with all the necessary tools to complete the adventure (bubbles, binoculars, whistle, a map, and some other stuff that is now strewn across my living room. Dora, Diego and Swiper also made an appearance which made Emmy pretty darn excited.

We only had tears once, when the older boys were running around roaring like dinosaur's and scared her a bit when they did it close to her. She growls all the time, but I guess it's different. She also was about the only kid who didn't attempt to pillage a gift, or take back the one they brought the Birthday girl, which was my big fear.

Funny thing happened later on in the evening, I had left to run to the store and Keith was home with Emmy. Apparently, she stuck her hand out and said, "Pleased to meet you," to Keith, no doubt copying me from earlier in the day at the party. Isn't it funny what they pick up?

Some photos:

Emmy blowing her 'whistle' which thankfully disappeared somewhere between the party and home. She couldn't quite get it to blow at full sound, but I knew it was just a matter of time.

Emmy being a 'big girl' and successfully drinking out of a lid-less plastic cup with no spills! I cannot believe how quickly they change from being babies to being children.

Emmy playing in the play castle in the backyard

Being extremely cute. (Okay, I am biased)

Emmy, watching Dora, and demanded her backpack from the party. Could my kid get any closer to the screen???
